Bihar government has suspended the Internet services including all social networking sites and messaging applications in Saran district following the caste tension and violence over the killing of a youth and serious injuries to two allegedly by the henchmen of Panchayat head’s husband last Thursday.
The suspension of internet services will continue till Wednesday 11 pm. The government has also imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in two blocks of the district. This has been done in order to prevent any communal and caste disturbances, according to police sources.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Chaitanya Prasad has already issued notification to this effect. In order to maintain peace and normalcy, temporarily internet services have been suspended, he said.
To strictly maintain peace in two blocks- Manjhi and Ekma videographers have also been deployed to monitor any suspicious activities in these two blocks.
According to the statement of the state police headquarters two accused have been arrested. Agitated over the delay in taking action against culprits, angry villagers torched some houses and some vehicles in Mubarakpur. They also pelted stones at police forces in which some of them. Have sustained some injuries, according to police sources.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is currently on Samadhaan Yatra, said : ”We are closely monitoring the situation in Saran district.” Sharply reacting to Saran incident, the JP termed it as the “return of the Goonda Raj in Bihar.”
